What is Everyday Heroes?
Everyday Heroes support the LSC ministry through a recurring gift on a monthly, quarterly or annual schedule. This reliable and consistent source of support allows LSC to continue the work that helps so many seniors, children, and families in the Carolinas.
It’s easy to enroll with a credit or debit card or by bank draft using our safe and secure online form. Once enrolled, donors maintain control of their giving with the ability to update the gift amount and frequency as needed or cancel at any time.
Members of the Everyday Heroes program will receive:
- Voices, the LSC quarterly newsletter
- An annual statement each January of cumulative gifts for the calendar year (unless otherwise requested)
- Occasional email correspondence

Meet our Development Team
Rich came to Lutheran Services Carolinas in 2019 after being the senior director of development for the ELCA in Chicago, IL. Prior to that he was the executive director for development at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC. Early in his career he worked in sales and marketing for pharmaceutical and medical device companies. He is married to Christine Post-Duncan, a director for the JourneyCare Foundation. Rich has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Lenoir-Rhyne University and an MBA from Jacksonville University. He is also a Certified Fundraising Professional (CFRE). Heidi has been the director of development since 2016. She has a BA in English from Delaware University, an MS in nonprofit management from Eastern University, and got her Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification in 2020. As the director of development, her main responsibilities include capital campaigns and annual fund. She lives with her husband, Todd, and two children, Evan and Macy in Davidson, NC. They attend and are members of Community in Christ Lutheran Church, in Cornelius, NC. When she is not working at LSC, she enjoys gardening, studying Slovenian language, and volunteering for the Cox Mill Marching Band. Melissa joined LSC in 2012 and has 13 years of grant research and writing experience. Previously, she worked as a research analyst at Bank of America. She has a BS in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her main responsibilities as the director of foundation relations include grant writing and reporting, restricted funds, and wish lists. She lives with her husband, Chris, and two sons, Sam and Seth, in Charlotte, NC. She spends her free time cooking, hiking, traveling, and buying way too many plants.
Katie is in charge of communications, including Voices, the LSC magazine; Scuttlebutt, the employee newsletter; the company's many websites, and social media. She also writes press releases and handles media requests. A journalist before joining LSC in 2013, she graduated from Wake Forest University and has a master's degree in English from James Madison University. She has two grown daughters and lives with her husband in Salisbury in a beautiful old house with many needs. She loves to hike with her family, preferably in a faraway national park, and she reads more than is probably good for her. Liz has been with LSC since 2014. She graduated from Queens University of Charlotte in 2007 with a BA in philosophy/religion. She lives in Reidsville, NC, with her husband, Wes Pitts, son, Walt, and two dogs, Norae and Sunae. She enjoys reading, traveling, running, hiking, and eating the delicious food that her husband cooks. Sandra joined LSC in June of 2021 with 15 plus years of fundraising experience and is excited to travel South Carolina and meet the people and congregations who call it home. She has lived in the Charleston area for the last 2 ½ years and travels to Columbia regularly with her husband and two kids to go see grandma and grandpa. Emily travels throughout North Carolina getting to know, saying thank you to and building relationships with a variety of LSC’s supporters. This includes individuals, families, and congregations who make the important work of LSC possible. After traveling the country on behalf of ELCA World Hunger, Emily is honored and thrilled to be back in the Carolinas. She earned a BS from Clemson University – Go Tigers! - and a Masters of Social Work from the University of South Carolina. Emily adores the chaos, adventure, and joy of being a mom to two young boys. She and her husband, Dan, enjoy time on the lake, traveling and being with friends and family whenever possible. Tracy joined LSC in February 2019 after 8 years with the YMCA. She is a graduate of Wagner College, Staten Island, NY and has a master's degree from New York University. She lives in Mooresville, N.C., and in her spare time she enjoys traveling, baking, attending NASCAR races, and Broadway shows. Cari joined LSC in March of 2020 just before office teammates began working at home. Cari graduated from Catawba College with a BA in business. She lives with her husband, Chris, in Salisbury with their two school-age sons, Cole and Cooper. You can find the Prices traveling to baseball tournaments, on the golf course, at wrestling matches, and in jujitsu class.
Erin works in communications and marketing for LSC. She writes stories for Voices, creates the employee newsletter, Scuttlebutt, designs marketing materials and creates content for LSC’s social media channels. She graduated from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC in 2011 with a BA in communications. Before finding LSC, Erin was a journalist for The Daily Courier in Forest City, NC and The Independent Tribune in Concord, NC. You can reach Erin at 336-301-4138.
