By including Lutheran Services Carolinas in your estate plans, you can leave a lasting legacy that ensures abundant living for those we serve in the future.

Donating non-cash assets, such as those listed below, often provides greater tax benefits. This increases the overall value of your contribution while making a significant impact on our mission. Your donation to Lutheran Services Carolinas supports a meaningful cause, bringing opportunities for abundant living to many. Your contribution can make a real difference by aiding our most vulnerable neighbors.

  • Donor Advised Funds  – With a grant recommendation from your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF), you can give from money you’ve already set aside without spending additional funds. This tool integrates with your DAF custodian, takes just a few minutes to use, and helps us track your gift.
  • Stock Donating – Securities allows you to make a substantial impact without withdrawing money directly from your bank account. Additionally, neither you nor Lutheran Services Carolinas will be taxed on the gains from appreciated assets you donate.
  • Charitable Distributions – A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a tax-efficient way for those 70½ or older to donate from their IRA. It also counts towards your annual Required Minimum Distribution.
  • Cryptocurrency – Donating cryptocurrency lets you make a significant impact without selling the crypto yourself. This means neither you nor Lutheran Services Carolinas will be taxed on the gains from appreciated assets you donate.

Volunteer

You’ll Get Back More Than You Give

Volunteers are an indispensable part of Lutheran Services Carolinas. LSC volunteers are compassionate people with loving spirits and generous hearts. They selflessly contribute thousands of hours of their time and talent each year. Their impact is immeasurable, and so is the value of the relationships they form with the people they assist.

We encourage you to join us as a volunteer. There are several ways to help, several of which are listed below.

VOLUNTEER

Senior Living Community

LSC’s senior living communities and adult day service programs are active, busy places where multiple generations meet in a spirit of fellowship and cooperation. Schools, clubs, and civic groups often visit for intergenerational projects, community service, internships, and job experience. LSC volunteers can lead educational, cultural, and musical events or donate their expertise in graphic design, gardening, technology, exercise, or wellness – any shareable skills or talents are welcome!

LSC volunteers can also help boost the spirits of senior residents with bedside visits, reading and writing help, and by performing everyday tasks as needed. A small amount of companionship and conversation goes a long way with our seniors.

Child And Family

Whether you live in North or South Carolina, there’s always a way to help children and families involved in LSC programs. You can volunteer your time and energy painting, landscaping, or renovating an LSC home in preparation for a new family. Or you can assist in identifying and recruiting parents for our foster care program. Whatever you choose, you can rest assured that you will make an amazing impact.

New Americans Program

Volunteers are always welcome to help newcomers to America acclimate to life in the US by tutoring English, providing transportation, or setting up homes and apartments. New Americans are forced from their homelands due to circumstances beyond their control. Our program and volunteers really make a difference in helping them adapt to our country.

Churches and other community groups may wish to participate in the Circle of Welcome, which supports LSC New American clients. Signup by clicking below.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

Stand Up For Someone In Need.

Due to adverse medical or socio-economic circumstances, many of the people served by LSC can’t speak or stand up for themselves. As an LSC Advocate, you are their voice! LSC advocates strive to ensure that everyone has access to the same resources and opportunities that help make a healthy and productive life possible.

As an LSC Advocate, there are two primary ways you can walk alongside the individuals we serve:

  • Donate Your Time (Go to volunteer page)
  • Make a Financial Contribution (Go to donate page)

It’s easier than ever to be an LSC advocate thanks to LSC Advocacy Alerts. These e-mail messages help you learn more about LSC priorities and initiatives, enabling you to become more involved in the areas that interest you most.
