The LSC Way: It’s the little things

It’s the little things that make The LSC Way.

Starting off the new year is always a time of reflection on the past and a peek at what might be coming for the future. The LSC Way looms large in the past and the future. The LSC Way keeps every member of the LSC family – teammates, residents and clients and their families, and others we touch – focused on our shared vision of Abundant Living for all of us.

And what’s little for one may be huge for another. A teammate agrees to work on Christmas or New Year’s so another teammate can spend time with their small children. A teammate receives a gift from a vendor and shares it with coworkers. Senior living community residents contribute to a teammate appreciation fund. Nursing home residents and their families chip in for door prizes at the teammate Christmas party. A family at an LSC group home provides a catered meal for clients and teammates. A teammate comforts a lonely resident or client, or vice versa.

One doesn’t generally see these actions in the business world. It’s transactional. You get paid a wage for working, and the company makes money. That’s okay; it’s just a different mission.

We prefer The LSC Way. We are governed by a vision where everyone is loved, included, treasured. That vision allowed LSC to have a very successful 2024 of quality, growth, and stability. That vision has set us up for more of the same in 2025: quality care for those we currently serve; growth in programs and filling our new independent living community in Hickory, North Carolina; and starting another independent living project.

The road is not always smooth and easy. Recruitment and retention of the type of teammates we all want to care for our parents and children will continue to be our most pressing issue. With any political change, we face opportunities and threats. On the “opportunities” side, we may see a more pro-business environment and regulatory relief. Threat-wise, we may face Medicaid cuts and major changes to refugee and immigration policy.

We cannot control the opportunities or the threats – but we can keep our eyes on LSC’s Vision, Mission, and Values. They will remain our North Star. That is The LSC Way.
